Ghost Rider - Spirit of Vengeance

My role on ‘Ghost Rider – Spirit of Vengeance’ (aka ‘Ghost Rider 2′) was matchmover. That involves tracking live action footage to create integrated 3d environments, props and characters/digital doubles. If there is any visual effect needed in the scene it needed to be tracked so full characters, clothing, vehicles and environments were all tracked in Syntheyes for lighting interactivity, adding 3d assets, animation and simulated flames and FX. In Ghost Rider 2 my main task was to track Nicholas Cage’s face, Jacket and Motor bike in almost all scenes he appears in. The most difficult aspect was the style of footage was always shaking, handheld with lots of motion blur which is a matchmovers nightmare.

Some shots could be tracked in a few hours, and some could take several days. Also the main actor Nicholas Cage did not have very many tracking markers on his face and on occasion had to be tracked through fire haze. I feel safe saying I could probably track anything after a challenge like Ghost Rider 2. I also did some assett Modelling and texturing including : Ghost Riders motor bike engine, His chain with hook, The enemy lair, semi automatic oozy and several other bits and pieces.
